One of my favourite games to play in my idle time is "I should be __." I've spent a lot of time building up skills and equipment for a lot of hobbies. Woodworking, cross-stitching, writing, making keyboards, playing video games, et cetera. And so now, when I manage to carve out some time to work on one of these things, there is a lot of choice. Even if I were to pick an activity, my love of starting new things leaves me with a lot of work in flight, not to mention the possibility of starting something from scratch.
Woodworking: Should I finish that keyboard case or should I work on the desks? Y'know, I've been thinking about getting into carving. Maybe I should do that instead.
Writing: The near-future sci-fi, one of the three or four epic fantasy stories I have in flight, or something completely different?
Cross-stitch: Dragons, samurai, Wheel of Time pattern, or one of two Legend of Zelda patterns I'm in the middle of? Or something new?
So, I spend the time I could be spending doing these things, just enumerating them and then get back to whatever task needs doing.
Does that mean that spinning my wheels is also a hobby?
