Over the past couple months, I've been working on a project to run an electrical cable from the power box in my garage to my dishwasher.
Back in 2015, we tore down a wall in the kitchen and put an island there. Unfortunately, the electrical line for the dishwasher came down from the ceiling, but I didn't realize it. So it's been on the same breaker as the rest of the island and a bunch of outdoor outlets (which was the poorly-implemented doing of some previous owner and led to random power outages to all of those areas, sometimes with a tripped breaker, but usually just no power).
I know that the dishwasher should be on its own breaker, and so this work was on the eventually-get-to-it list. Skip six years to an outage that lasted a couple hours when we were a little behind on dishes, an extension cord stretched across our kitchen floor, and a pandemic where there really wasn't a lot else to do, and suddenly eventually is now.
For once, I remembered to take pictures, so my toil is now fodder for your amusement.
